Petter Solberg and team mate Johan Kristofferson absolutely dominated the latest round of the FIA World Rally Cross Championship at Lydden Hill driving their Teng Tools backed cars to win not only the final but also both semi finals. In fact they won every race except Q4 and even in that race they finished second and third. Throughout both days of racing the two drivers were consistently the quickest on track beating some very well known drivers and breaking the track record along the way.
Petter Solberg is one of the most popular drivers in World Rally Cross and the crowd went wild when he crossed the line to take his first final win of the year. The celebrations in the team area where also extremely loud as not only did Petter win but team mate Johan took second place giving the team an even bigger lead in the team championship.
Joining the team celebrations were a number of customers from Teng Tools UK who had travelled from as far away as Guernsey in the Channel Islands to be a part of the weekends events. They were treated to some fantastic entertainment but if you missed the live television and internet coverage, highlights are shown around the world on TV and the WRX website has clips and pictures.
Petter now adds his name to another piece of motor racing history as winner of what is probably the last World Rally Cross event to be held at Lydden Hill, the home of the sport and the place where rally cross was invented some fifty years ago. A result that will mean a lot to Petter and Team PSRX as it is the end of an era.
The team next races at Petter’s home event at Hell in Norway where they will start as leaders of the team championship and first and third in the drivers championship. No doubt at all that Petter will be determined to win there as well!
